Daytime Running Lights on 07 X3

I've decided that I would like to have the DRLs on the X3 activated and have a few questions.
Are the DRLs the inside lighs (high beams) on at low power? And do the taillights come on with the DRL like they do on the X5?

Also, since the dealership preped the wrong car when we went to pick it up, do you think they can waive the fee? They did not even ask or anything.
Thanks.

.
If you have the xenon HID then the inside lights burn at a low output--no corona ring lighting--with halogens I guess the same happens. The parking lights and tailights do not light with the DRL's. I have seen X3's on the road with just the 4 corona rings lit and no other lights--anyone know how to do this??

I'm not 100% sure on the DRLs, but I think the inside lights and possibly the angel eyes will light up under DRL, but probably not the LED taillights. To get only the corona rings, I think you turn the switch to the parking light position, but you should also get the taillghts and corner lights on.

The dealer should do programming for free, regardless of whether or not they messed up. At least that's the way my dealer works.

I beleive on the X3, the DRLs do not include the corona rings. DRLs only consist of the inner halogen "flash to pass" lights.

Hey truex5er

I live in Canada where DRL are mandatory.

With DRL the headlights closest to the grill come on when the X3 is started. The corona rings do not come on, although it looks like it in the image. The taillights do come on with the DRL, though.

If you run the DRL with the parking lights, all four corona rings and the side marker lights come on as well as the rear taillights.

thanks. We do not have xenon so thus no angel eyes at all. My guess it is the inner lights at low power.
I'll have it done next time it goes in for service.

No arm wrestle, trueX, but why do you want them?

ChiTown is not exactly the GWNorth or upper Sweden...
With the plethora of cars rolling around with DRLs I think
most of the attention getting/visibility issue has become moot.

My angle is a personal one: all those DRLs are a sea of
lights and my M'cycles headlights are lost in that ocean.

And, not sure about BMW, but the "American cars" actually
run a different wattage in the DRLs on CDA cars vs the US cars.
Or, they did.

Yeah, I know there are some that are opposed, and I understand your reasons. Where I live, in a residential area, a lot of people will park on the street in front of their houses, and when you are driving in the opposite direction, (due to geography and lighting) it is hard to tell who is parked and who is not. I am not one of those who are too stupid to figure out that the DRL dosen't turn on the tails (well on the X5 it does) and they are absolutley not subsitutes for lowbeams. There are also elderly people living here, so it is an added safety feature. Also there are 6 schools within a 5 sq mi radius. In addition, there is zero motorcycle traffic here.

First post for me here. I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to make the halos glow as DRLs. Surely there has to be a way to make that happen.
