Strategizing my warranty
Hi y'all,
I read recently an article in Bimmer magazine that discussed getting the most one can get under the original warranty and I am wondering along these same lines now that I have a vehicle with such a warranty. My 2005 X3 has an in service date of 6/05 and it currently has 32K on the clock. Figuring my warranty comes to an end in June, 2009, is there anything I should be shooting for, mileage-wise, before that date? Is there an Inspection II at 50K? My service indicator tells me that my next service point is 15350 miles in the future. It would not be too terribly hard to get the clock to that point before June, 2009, but will that be an oil change or a more significant service visit? I am having my Bimmer guy track down my service records (presumably not that hard as this X3 was originally a BMW lease car) so I will know what's been done so far, but I surely want to get all that I can out of BMW via the warranty. Figuring that any weak parts are going to fail from miles rather than time, I will probably be driving this vehicle perhaps a little harder than I would normally, at least until June of next year. Anything factory errors or common failures should have revealed themselves in the first 32K, but I guess one never knows. Any suggestions will be valued. Thank you in advance. Cheers, D |
