Not much action in the X3 forum...

As a newb who is excited about his new ride, I have been checking by this forum now a couple of times a day ( Yeah, I know) and it seems like the only people posting in the X-World are X5 owners.

I get that the X5 has been out for a few more years and so forth, but can it be that the X3 owners are really in such a disproportionate minority here?
In fact, even the two-year old E70 model has three times the threads and four times as many posts as the X3 forum.

Well, just for the sake of "discussion", I am interested in any thoughts you all might have as to an explanation for this.

Is it that the X3's don't break as often?

Or maybe it's that we X3'ers bought the wrong car.

Maybe we're (well not me) all just active goers with better things to focus attention on than discussing their car on an online forum?

Anyway, I am interested in your thoughts on this.

In the meanwhile, I am going to sneak out (my wife thinks I am nuts) and take the X for a ride and watch those wacky headlights sliding around. Still "learning the clutch" after almost 400 miles and I love to hear that engine sing as I wind her up to sweet line.

Hello... my name is Drum and I am addicted to my X3.

Simply put, there aren't as many X3 owners on this forum. X5World was the "original" site, and now it's just expanded to the X3 and the X6Worlds. What I do like about this X3 forum is that there are a lot more international folks that post here. I'm kinda an international guy, so I find that really cool.

One could say the X3 doesn't break as often as the X5, mostly because it's not as (needlessly) complex and based on the E46 platform, so there isn't much in terms of reliability issues.

X3s aren't as well represented. But if you wish, you ought to go to the Tri-State meet on 31 May. If you see UCrew's sig picture, my X3 is smack in the middle, the only one at that DC meet years ago.

Hey there Drum,

Maybe we're just too busy enjoying our X3's? I like mine a lot. I'm also very pleased to report 18 mpg/city this last tank! With gas prices hitting $4.00/Gal around here that makes me feel a lot better about my choice.

I haven't had any real problems, not even a dead battery, although I do have a small list of issues to get taken care of under warranty. Namely a small split in the material in a corner around the mirror in the drivers side visor. Also the courtesy light on the drivers side comes on when I move the visor over to the side window... very strange. At least they are both related to the visor and can be fixed when they replace it.

Oh yeah, I'm about to need a new set of tires...
