'04 X3 Radio problems (non NAV)

Hello,

We just recently purchased a 2004 X3 3.0i and we love it. The only problem is the buttons on the BMW Business CD radio unit are not working, except the volume knob and the CD eject button. We didn't notice this problem until after we bought the car. The only way we can change radio stations/change songs on a cd are by using the steering wheel buttons. Has anyone had this problem? Or has anyone installed an aftermarket stereo in their X3? The cost to replace the stock unit is about $750, so hoping to find a cheaper alternative...

Thanks!

Hello!

If you want to install aftermarket stereo, you can use parts from Indianapolis Traffic Pro adapter kit.
This kit is bmw original and is used for Blaupunkt radio installation.
There are some parts you can use (outside trim, inside holder, wiring adapter)
You can buy not all parts from this kit, but only that what you need

Support frame 65 90 0 306 102
Trim after 10/04 65 90 0 395 782
Trim before 10/04 65 90 0 301 108
adapter for blaupunkt(euro plugs) 65 90 0 139 631
You need also some handwork inside console
Write me if you need advice

regards

Regards

My German is not very good, but if I understand you right, you have disconnected the battery, and when connecting it again the radio is not working!
Have you tried the security code that should have been supplied with the car?
