Does anyone NOT have the hesitation issue on the 07 X3?

I read a bunch of user reviews on Edmunds.com and it seemed that nearly everyone complained about the tranny and that the software fixes didn't help. The car we drove yesterday didnt' appear to hesitate but then again, I wasn't driving. Just trying to understatnd what I'm potentially getting into. Thanks for your help.

No hesitation here. The manual transmission may have something to do with it

It's best to avoid an '07 with the AT. However, if you absolutely MUST buy one, take it for a long test drive. Better yet, don't get a 2007 with the AT. And I would not recommend getting an '07 with the AT. (get the point?)

if that gearbox hesitates, there is only one cause for it, and an easy remedy

I drive a 07 x3 with A/T. I experienced the hesitation recently at 37k mi. I took the vehicle in for software update and since then, the vehicle drives very smooth. Put 1k mi since the software update and haven't noticed any hesitation. Just make sure the dealers updates the software with the latest version...because mine was about 2 version behind.

Not sure if it's the same thing we're talkin about, but my 07 AT was hesitant from a stop in 1st gear. Took it in, dealer programmed the tranny. It's all better.

what kind of hesistation are we talking about? The throttle response is a little delayed as compared to what i'm used to in my Maxima but I thought that was just how these x3's run... the most noticable delay is trying to accelerate while it decides to shift gears...it's: shift...delay...........accelerate (although I did not notice this delay in the old engine) (up to 2006)

This sort of thing is hard to quantify. Certainly, from my experiences (I have an early 2007 X3) I do experience hesitation - particularly from a standstill. It's worst if I'm driving at speed towards a junction - then stop at the junction completely. Then, I depress the pedal to go again, and there's a real 2 second lag before the car actually starts moving. When it's on the go it seems to be fine.

I did say this to the dealer when getting a service earlier on in the year and asked for an upgrade to the s/w. They told me there's nothing wrong with it. Hmm...
