Smile New Member with X3 on order

I've been lurking here and over on Bimmerfest since last June. My wife and I ordered an X3 2 weeks ago, and it was built on October 7 and is waiting for a boat ride across the pond. We drove the new 3 series back in June, and it was a really tough decision between the X3 and new 3. Our dealer let us have an X3 for a 3 day test drive and we made the decision. Maybe we'll do ED on a new 3 series sedan in a year or two.

We waited to see if painted bumpers and the 255 hp motor were going to be a reality on the X3, but it really didn't matter. We were enticed by the driving experience. We could not find a 2005 available on the East coast with nav and adaptive headlights and other stuff we wanted even back in August. I am a Ford guy, and still have my first car, an '84 SVO Mustang, which still drives like a BMW. Unfortunately, the Ford Escape, though energy efficient and practical, drives like a tall truck and was not sporting enough (nor fun enough) for me or my wife, who is used to the power and handling of her 97 Mazda Millenia S.

I will post pics when the X3 gets here. Our salesman ordered it for us and then realized he ordered the wrong interior trim color and ordered us a 2nd X3 with the correct trim. They are both waiting for the boat. The dealer across town ordered us an identical X3 even though we signed with the other dealer (same local franchise, but the price was thousands less), so there will be 3 nearly identical X3s arriving in our town at the same time. They will have no trouble finding nice homes.

This site is a treasure trove of information. I like the humor and friendly enthusiasm here, too. See y'all around.
Juan, I bet your X5 get together will be a blast.

Jon
