warning light dashboard

I have 28000 miles on a 04 X3. My Lamp "warning light" came on int he dash. The manual says it means a light is out somewhere....but I don't see anything out. Any help on this would be great and how do I get it to go off without a trip to the shop?? Thanks for any help....

To be sure, you need a friend or someone to make sure ALL lights are functioning while you hit the brake and/or turn on the lights and foglamps (if equipped).

could be brake light

The way to check the brake light without the assistance of a friend is to start the motor with your foot OFF the brake. Then press the brake pedal. If the warning light comes on, it's a bad brake light.

Same thing happend to me the other day but the light went away. I checked and did not see any lights out. The warning has not come back on since. I am bringing it in for a service in the next few weeks anyway so I will have them check it out.
