Wondering what the second 6-wire connector is
I am the new owner of a 2007 BMW X3. It has Nav, premium sound system, and pre-wired for sat. radio. I want to see about putting in a Dice MediaBridge 1500 so I started snooping around in the center console just to make sure I understood the installation. I was able to fish out the wrapped cable bundle for the CD changer and found 1 3-wire connector and 2 6-wire connectors. One of the 6-wire connectors had a sticker around it that said something like CD-SARDS.
So, I have a few questions. I am assuming the 6-wire connector with the sticker on it is the one for the CD changer, what is the other one for? Also, I can tell from working with the Nav/radio that the radio has DSP. Everything I am readying is saying that if the radio has DSP I need a special adapter. Also, everything I am reading keeps talking about a coax cable for the DSP; I have not found one of them yet in the center console. Any help is appreciated. thanks. |

Bump tastic.
When you install the SDARS (sirius) module you need to pull the radio and swap the CDC audio socket for one that is taped back on the harness. This connects the SDARS module to the radio. At the SDARS module there is a multiplug that you plug in that runs up to the glovebox CDC. Hence you have two sets of connections for the CDC in the glovebox: One from the radio (factory) and one from the SDARS module. You only use one at a time. |
