Suspension questions

I have a 2007 X3 3.0si. With about 65K miles on it. I'm wondering if it's time for a strut / shock refresh. Currently, when I go over bumps I here hissing coming from the shocks as they are compressed and released. Is that hissing a sign of worn shock / strut seals or is that normal?

Also, anyone have a DIY or at least torque specs for the various nuts that need to be worked on, while doing this suspension work? How do you gget to the rear shock mount bolts?

Front struts look easy enough once you release that large lower bolt holding the front end and strut together...

Your input would be greatly apprciated.
