From Heatedseatkits.com:
"Hello, Yes, we have alot of customers who own the same car as you with the same problem. You can replace your current defective seat heater element with ours because your current elements are made of copper and can easily break down (if any point of the copper wire breaks, the entire seat heater element will not longer work). Our seat heater elements are made of carbon fiber so it doesn't matter if one wire breaks or twenty wires break, it will still work. Bascially our elements work the same way as an electric stove top element. When you add positive and negative, it will product heat. You will need to purchase H3 seat heater kit (the most ideal kit for your solution). Our solution is much cheaper because it will last longer and you don't need to buy the cloth/leather seat cover that the dealer forces you to buy also. Best Regards, HeatedSeatKits.com" Thanks for the input |

I pulled the lower seat cushion (very easy) off my 07 X3 without heated rear seats and there aren't any wires or heater elements from the factory installed covers. So it would be more cost effective for me to install the aftermarket carbon heater pads myself.
Does anyone have the part numbers for the OEM rear seat heater switches and the wiring harness? Searched Real OEM to no avail. I prefer to use the OEM switches because they automatically turn off and reset to full off when the ignition key is off where the aftermarket switches do not. |

For vehicles with Seat heating, rear S496A=Yes 08 REAR HEATABLE SEAT SWITCH 61316988957 RealOEM.com * BMW E83N X3 3.0i VARIOUS SWITCHES Can't find any separate harnesses, but connectors to make them are listed. You also need to tap into a decent power feed and use a sufficient wire gauge for that. BR /BM |
