I think the bumper only needs to be removed if you have the headlight washers. I have the headlight washers and had a hard time just getting the headlights out enough to change the turn signals.

I do have headlight washers. Were you able to completely remove the head light w/o taking off the bumper?

Headlight removal questions - Angel Eye Installation
In preparation for installation of Angel Eyes on my Xenon 2006 X3 wondering what the steps are for removal of headlights with washers
On the E46 I was able to follow someone's FAQ and it was easy. Knowing that I have to bake the lights want to take my time doing this.
