New X3 Owner

Hi my name is Jason, I just picked up an 04 X3 6 speed with sport package and 102k on the clock at an auction for my wife and thought I would introduce myself. I mostly have VAG cars, I do all my own wrenching so i'm interested in digging in to something new.

Good job finding the manual transmission model. (I wasn't sure if the auto in those years was 5 or 6 speed).

We bought our 2007 for my wife, who insisted on the manual. We both drive it now, and really enjoy it.

Thanks, we pretty much fell in to it. My wife test drive an 07 x3 at a local used dealership on a friday and loved it. Then we saw the one we got online at an auction, even the 6 speed that she really wanted that next we'd and I pulled the trigger for 8700.

So far I've done some basic maintenance. Plugs, k&n panel filter, oil and transfer case fluid change and tossed on a new set of kumho's.

Congrats! But prepared to be disappointed if you have hopes of regular wrenching. We are going to be 8 years in with the X3 in June, and there have been almost no issues post typical warranty stuff with a first year model. I gave up maintaining this car in 2009 to focus on full time X5 maintenance.
