Question So tell me about your South Carolina delivery

When my new X3 arrives in the US about 7 weeks hence, I have the opportunity to take delivery at the plant and museum in South Carolina. Sounds like a blast, but I'd like to hear about your experience if you took delivery there.

Thanks for any info (or pics) you can provide!

Hey, a Jimmy Buffet fan from my home town!! How cool is that

I didn't do this myself, but everyone I know that has done it says it was outstanding and not something to pass by.

Can't help you on the delivery question, parrothead. I just wanted to welcome you to the board. Congrats on your new ride. Post some pics when you get it.

Performance Center delivery is the way to go but I would call them and ask what programs they offer for the X3. The factory tour is part of the delivery but no tours are being given at this time. They are building a new off road course for the X3/X5 but I do not believe it is completed. Ask them if they are still using the old course. I heard they are building a large oval track for testing (possibly 1mile oval) and it will take up the area where the old off road course was.:xoutpost:

Flew into S.C. and was picked it by the Marriot driver with this X5 (I'm sure they're using a new vehicle now):

You and a guest are then treated with a complimentary dinner the evening you arrive at the hotel. The next morning they again offer you complimentary breakfast at around 7am since they'll have to drive you down to the BMW Performance center at around 8am.

Upon arriving at the BMW PCD location, Jonathan Stribble our Delivery Specialist welcomed us and confirmed that we wanted to take delivery of our vehicle in the afternoon (we wanted to save the best for last...)

We we're then introduced to a driving instructor which led us to a classroom for orientation. There was another couple with us taking delivery of an X3. After the orientation, we headed outside and a X5 4.4 similar spec X5 to what we ordered was waiting, same thing for the X3.

We then hopped in the vehicle, tested the communicator and drove out to the track...

Then off to the off-road track:

Instructor asked if I wanted to go for a spin on an M3 and said yes! So we went to the skid pad then the autocross track (same as what we've used earlier). He drove first then took my turn... Wow, what a fun activity..playing around with an M3... No Pics since...

At this time it was already noon and we got complimentary lunch at the cafeteria and had lunch with the instructor...

Next thing was the Factory tour, since we haven't taken delivery of our X5 yet, we got a Z4 with SMG... A really nice car!

No cameras allowed in the factory so no pics to show...

Then it was time to take her home...

Welcome Home! - West Chester, PA.

Here's how she looks like now:

You're welcome! Be sure to tell your advisor before making the trip when you want to pick-up your X3. In the morning or the afternoon, the latter is better IMHO since you can focus on the activities much better and you'll have more time to inspect the vehicle and ask questions during the delivery.

Wow, great little write-up there. I really want to do this for my next car (which WILL be an X3/X5).
