LED Taillights

I was doing some maintenance on my daughters 2012 xdrive 2.8i (n52) which has the zenon headlights and LED taillights. I noticed the left rear LED taillight located in the rear fender (not hatch) was not working. Don't know how long its been out since there was no message or bulb out warning on the dash or info screen.

You cannot replace just a bulb, as the LED & circuit is integrated into the taillight assembly. Its relatively easy to change out for a new one - albeit at a cost of about $250. Bought mine from Pelican - it was an official new BMW part.

I'm wondering if the system doesn't flag a warning because the hatch taillight was still functioning. Any similar problems or occurances from the forum.

Thinking of replacing the right side now so they start off with equal lives.
