-no diesel in the US
-no manual tranny in the US -Nav isn't std in the US -the US version is more expensive than an comparably equipped Q5. I want to replace my X5 with the new X3, but BMW sure is making it tough to ignore the Q.

After many test drives in different models, I just picked up a X3 35i below invoice, MSRP about 52k. Similary equipped Q5 would be 3.2 prestige model at around 52k. Of course, X3 literally blows Q5 away in performance. X3 35i has 8 speed vs Q5's 6 speed. X3 has top/rear view and Q5 has rear view. X3 comes with maintenance and Q5 does not. Finally I am not sure about other areas, but in around my area, I highly doubt I could've picked up a Q5 near invoice, maybe a grand off MSRP at best. I couldn't believe the nerve of audi salesman in my area when selling their Q5. They would be all willing with A3s, A4s, etc, but with Q5, they just wouldn't budge. Did I mention that 3 litre twinscroll in X3 will leave Q5 way way behind?

Isn't the Q5 about the same as a Vanagan; I mean they're both just VW's
