Waterpump shaft leak?

4.4 M62 started leaking slowly last week, Tuesday it became worse, . I stopped driving it & pulled the under cover yesterday looks like it's coming out of the shaft to me. There is slight play when moving the fan.

I pick up the pump & thermostat today & will r&r.

Good job catching that early. Mine actually seized while I was driving. Took out the fan without (blades went everywhere). I had some coolant spray on the overflow tank every now and then... I now know where it came from!

I always look under the cars I was perplexed because it was coming from the middle of the engine bay. I was scared by the hits that said it was the front timing cover.

Very glad it was just the waterpump.

What pump did you install?

I ordered a Meyle WP last year, came in the blue "Meyle Germany" box. A slip of paper was in the box stating "some seal leakage may occur during break in", WTF???

Upon closer inspection I noticed a TINY "made in China" sticker on the box side, and "China" stamped on the shaft end.

I've never seen a German made WP with a "could leak" disclaimer!!!

Same still has that nonsense. Just took it around the block had the crap scared out of me when I had the Xmas tree (battery died from sitting a week) Charged over night, after checking all cel errors & having none I remembered the damn "drive 100 feet & it goes away" Xmas tree gone.

I wonder how many customers took the car to a dealer after the Xmas lights did this.

lol

Retailers need to disclose country of production, When the box has "Germany" in big letters all over the box, the contents SHOULD be produced in Germany!

I could have bought a non-Meyle China made pump for around 1/2 the price.

I plan on searching "new old stock" retailers when the cheena pump fails, I expect 20k to 30k miles out of it.

It's odd on the old pump/thermostat the X ran at 99-101. It is now running at 105-108.

The temp gauge is still just above the mid line.

Was the new thermostat a China part?
