12V Gurus : Morimoto Ballasts
Got a set in to replace the stocks. I also have a extra one of their previous revision...I need to put one back in my fogs. Anyhow, these XB ones have this *box* that comes off the ignitor cable. I've never seen such a beast. Anyhow, just curious if anyone is running these new ballast with the external ignitors. |

It's a CANBUS error cancelling device.
I run these in my car - no dramas at all.

Thx. I actually always thought Morimoto was a *better branded* version of alot of the cheap/cheaper/ Ebay-like PRC ballasts. Maybe at least better marketed.
In receiving them, and after posting this, I did a quick google. Looks like they had ~some~ issues with their ballast. Enough to even warrant a recall |

They had issues with the SS series of ballasts, which was an error they admitted because they spec'd a piece of hardware that would fit into a more compact ballast but did not do well in freezing temps.
The successing DSP ballasts (I have them in my fogs, TRS replaced my SS's hassle free and my FiL has in his headlights) were just fine, and these XB's are also great for the price. And yes the canbus modules are also good, I use them inline with my fog ballasts and no issues.

I guess I should be all good for now then....currently have one DSP powering up one fog. The latter was another popular brand....Digital HID if I recall. One of those crapped out on the fogs, hence I have the spare with the DSP and another on standby. I guess it only took another year or so for the other to crap out as well

Thread bump.
What's a decent / cheaper/cheap ballast ya'll can recommend. These are for my inner projectors that hardly ever get turned on at all. So far, I've got Morimotos on both the outer *daily lows* as well as the fogs. |

No. Inner lows 3K...projector retrofitted
One side is working, the other is not. Hell, I've replaces 4 ballasts in the last year. Might as well do the other 2 |

Pre-facelift lights? That would explain it then.
Didnt know you had a quad conversion thats fairly rare, would love to see pics. I'm all about keeping things similar so if the XB Ballasts were working well I'd just get another set of those. HIDPlanet usually has good sets of used ballasts in the classifieds as well
