I think this is for the MKIV nav system.

Are you looking for a CD or a DVD? The 2000-2002 E53's came with the MkIII that was CD-based. The 2003-2006 had the MkIV, which is DVD based. Hence that auction is a DVD and says it is for 2003+

If your nav drive has been upgraded to a MkIV then you will be fine. If you still have the original MkIII then you need to look for disks that are on CD's.

If you still have the MkIII nav drive, here is a 2015 CD that covers the New England area

I thought all X5s had the mkiv, and the E39 got bumped up from the mkiii to the mkiv in 2003. My mistake.

it would be compatible - all 2005 E53's use the same nav drive (the mkIV)
