Window down, rain coming, no key

Title says it all.

Wife left town for a few days with both sets of keys to the beast in her purse. It is outside, unlocked (not a theft risk here), and has a window part way down.

Rain is forecast before she gets home.

Any way to manually close the window (like the crank for the pano roof)? If not, when the first sprinkles arrive the duct tape and plastic go on.

Doubtful, but maybe one of the systems mavens will have an idea...
Meanwhile, grab a small piece of tarp or plastic and cover the open window.
Painter's tape, applied very gently, will probably survive the rain and it comes off well.

My driver side window/mirror switch broke yesterday, but fortunately the windows were up...

Anything waterproof to mask/cover up your window, will work.

Do not use duct tape. It will mess shit up. Painters tape will be okay. There does not appear to be a way to manually crank the windows. But you can remove the door card and apply 12vs to the window motor to roll up or down the window.

Yeah, duct tape was my angry reaction (and it is her car). I taped it up with painters tape, applied like shingles so water will run off and not in. It is just a couple of inches open, but in a good rain, that's enough. Better to close it, but apparently not possible.

Well you can close it, just not without taking off the door card. Anyway, don't leave the tape on too long, especially not in direct sunlight.

What about the plastic valet key? I have mine wired under the car Just in case......

I would have thought if you can open the door, cover the entire door with a tarp or sheet of plastic, then close the door. No tape needed, and bugger-all chance of a leak.

Thanks, all. Keys returned home, tape removed without damage, all is right with the world again. Until a repeat a tarp would have worked (or similar) if it had been available; painter's tape was here and worked fine for a small window opening. All good suggestions, as was leaving the second key behind!

I would have just opened the door and draped a large plastic trash bag over the door. closed it and then placed some painters tape over the seam. but thats just me.
