4.8is Coilover Suspension Conversion - How to remove warning/error lights?
Good day - I have finally given up on repairing the adaptive suspension on my 2004 4.8is E53. Nearly all components have been replaced, all connections checked, and $4,100 has been consumed, yet the indy shop (including visits to the BMW dealership for code reads, advice) cannot seem get it sorted out.
I would like to install BC Racing coilovers on all 4 corners. This is not ideal, but I think the price ($1000) and permanent fix on a 150k mile car are my next best solution. MY QUESTION: Does anyone know - definitively - what is required to remove and/or prevent any error codes and dash warnings once the airbag suspension is replaced by coilovers on the 4.8is? I have heard it is simply "coded out" at the dealership but I can't seem to find any read information on that. IF dealership coding is NOT the answer, Suncore Industries makes a coil spring kit (not coil overs) that includes a "warning light remover" as a $200 adder to the kit - it loks like a module that wires in somewhere. Does anyone know if this part can be purchased elsewhere or separately? Any other sage words of wisdom here? Thank you VERY MUCH!!

Yes, the warning lights can be extinguished using the BMW dealer software that can be purchased on Ebay. There are many here that have made the change to coilovers. I can't help you as to how to fix the issue, sorry. Suggest you search Coilover threads if no one responds with what you need.

BCRedliner - thank you. I've done a LOT of searching and have only come across a few mentions of coding the error messages out, but nothing I very clear or certain. I'd love to hear from someone who has had it done and can tell me EXACTLY what is required!

Bring it somewhere and have it coded out.
They'd be ripping you off if they charged more than an hour labor for it. I'm on BC's and have been ignoring my light but I'm having it coded this week at some point.

Thanks!! Do you like the ride/performance? Let me know how your experience goes with the coding!

You have to code it actually out of the VO (vehicle order), I do not know the actual process for it.

Thanks Ricky - somebody on here has done it and knows the specifics
I probably should have asked like this: Has anyone converted to 4-corner coilovers (KW, BC Racing, etc.) on a 4.8is? If so, how exactly did you eliminate the dash warning lights and errors codes? Cheers...

this is how it is done. I had notes somewhere when I looked into it for someone. There was a part that I couldn't get past, like the new Vehicle order code, but somehow true programming experts know how to do this.

BUMP.
Anyone in the Bay Area, CA successfully do this? I called BMW Concord and Eastbay Pleasanton and no one seems to know what I'm talking about. I am basically telling them that I have the "self-leveling suspension inactive" error and need it coded it out of the VO (vehicle order) by deselecting air suspension. Seems straight forward to me but this is causing lots of confusion over the phone setting up an appointment?!

I love it.
If you order BC's MAKE SURE the top nut under the camber plate is torqued down before you install them. I didn't do this and had knocking when they were newly installed. It was really annoying. Adjusting them properly will take some time but once you set bump points and dial it all in it will drive amazing. I'd say at least 10 times better than it does on air.
