How many have dealt with intermediate levers and eccentric shaft problem?

There is a high probability that our 05 4.4 is dealing with the intermediate levers/eccentric shaft issue causing misfires on cold starts. Getting it looked at again for a 2nd opinion this weekend. Now if that is the case, I want to hear from those who have dealt with this whether it is worth fixing. Reason I am asking is I have heard, besides being a $4K+ job, it has a lot of potential pitfalls and cost overruns. That together with future potential common big ticket items on the N62 - valve stem seals, coolant transfer pipe, I don't know if it is wise to invest more money into it. Though I really like the e53 and ours have only 83K miles on it, the N62 scares me. Appreciate any advice on this.

If you have DIS there is a test you can run to find out if they are behaving correctly. It'll cost you $35 and a spare laptop if you don't have this capability already.

I too have an 05 4.4 and have been sort-of dealing with this off and on. Mine seems
to pass the test but will throw a fit ever-so-often.
