problem selecting drive

I got a slight problem with the gearbox on the 4.4 . ill try to explain

I took my friend out today, showed him the beasty she drove ok , as usual , swapped it into sport mode, then tried to do the triptronic part, the gear stick was stiff , at first (selecting manual gears), like its never been in them positions, wasn't smooth, couple of sticky changes it was fine put it back into normal mode and we came home ,
now if I sit in car,. and move selector p.r.n. when I get to drive it wont go in straight away, it stops, only if I slightly move the stick to the left will it engage , drives same , just wont go straight into gear. , sport mode and trip works, ok, its the initial going in bit
don't tell me ive broke something

Steve

Can you see if the correct selector choice is being shown in the OBC? Like when you select D is it highlighted in the dashboard and so on?

At first glance it seems to me that the selector cable is loose or partially broken.

Check the whole assembly and part numbers in here:
RealOEM.com - Online BMW Parts Catalog

You can try looking at the bottom of your car, right side of the transmission and find the selector cable and mount. Check for any missing bolts or broken parts.
