First time i see something like that. It looks nice, but we don't usually have problems with calipers.

![]() When replacing your pads and rotors, take your old ones out, clean them with a scotch brite pad (or super fine sand paper) and reinstall - DRY. Or buy new ones. As mentioned, no one is having issues on our applications 3.0, 4.4 or 4.8is. When purchasing all new ones this Fall, I discovered the fronts guide pins are only available OE from the dealer on 4.6 and 4.8is applications, at $24 each.

The brass ones I've seen in the past. Problem is they need service interval and regular removal/regreasing in my VW experience.
I'd stick with stock. Get iS brakes if you want an upgrade.

I did rebuild my calipers on all my cars in the course of the last year - the whole 9 yards, with new rubber bushings, new dust boot seals, new lines, etc. I was just curious if this "performance" part was any better than stock? RB mentioned that these parts need regular servicing, which is a big turn-off. One cannot go by what the seller advertises - he wants to sell, so I wanted an opinion based on how these parts perform, hold up, etc all vs stock. Didn't ask how to service the brakes, but thanks anyway.

Got it.
The bushing and guide pins work as advertised. They will bind/lock up if not lube on a regular basis which for a track vehicle is every prep time for the brakes (just before going to the track). For street vehicles you will need to service these 2 to 4 x a year based on mileage, weather, etc. Normal caliper grease is required. Not a big deal. On the street, there is no real caliper pin movement that would mis-align the caliper/pad to the rotor due to the reduced brake effort in normal driving. Kind of like installing a big brake kit if all you do is city and town type of driving. The brakes never get hot enough to be effective. Looks nice but there is almost no brake improvement / value over the stock set up. Eye candy. IMHO
