Burned oil smell is back

This damn thing...
2002 3.0i, several months ago I replaced the VC gasket and inspected the VC for cracks - found none. Put her back together and the smell was gone.

Now it's back. Seriously, it was fixed but now is not. I don't know what is happening here.

Will a bad CCV smell like burned oil?

Only if the engine is sucking oil from a bad CCV into the intake manifold.

I have seen bad ccv cause very early failure of vc gasket. I would replace ccv and re-seal vc. I have also seen non original bmw vc gasket leak right after install. Also always use new grommets
