After Market Headlights E53

Has anyone purchased any good aftermarket xenon headlight assemblies that don't look like a rain forest after power washing? I constantly tell my detailer's employees not to power wash the headlight assemblies and every once in a while I get my truck back like this...I have purchased 2 different sets of aftermarket assemblies and it seems like they are all not well sealed.

don't replace 'em fix 'em. Take them off, remove all electrical components and fill them with water; rotate them around and find where water comes out. The factory shells have vent holes but have a rubber 90° boot that goes over the hole to restrict water from entering. It may be as simple as adding a similar boot to any vent holes (or a simple length of rubber hose). If they are assembled from two pieces that are screwed together, disassemble put in a bead of clear silicone and reassemble. (and also work on the venting issue mentioned above).

You can find photos online of factory lenses and the rubber boot(s) that cover all the holes. I think once you fill with water it will be painfully obvious where the water is leaking in and quite solvable. If it's a really tight seam or in a corner you may be best off with 2-part epoxy clear coat

Of the two aftermarket headlight sets that you purchased can you share with the community what were the brands of those aftermarket headlamps?

Thanks

Those are Sonar headlights. They are not the ones me and mam4.6 have.

FWIW, I had a problem with my one headlight fogging up after my retrofit was completed but it was due to the turn signal socket not being fully seated against the housing. Twisted it a quarter turn and it sealed completely and any misting was gone and did not return.

Thanks for clarifying RB I am about to pull the trigger on the ones you recommended and perform the upgrades on the units.

Many use Depo lights as aftermarket replacements.

As long as you put some new/extra butyl in the channel when resealing you'll have no issues, and just make sure the vents are clear and attached when putting everything back together, there are 3 vents on the back housing.

Headlights

I have to tell you I bought a set from Umnitza, they are gorgeous headlights but turned out to be a nightmare. Led's blinking on their own and bad customer service. I always say "anyone who buys a German automobile for the quality shouldn't screw it up with aftermarket parts!"
