The connector at the strut side always crumbles when you are trying to pull it out. Just make sure the whole connector is not crumbled, you can pull it carefully and slowly by holding the wire, it is very strong and not easy to break. I encountered the same issue when replace the pad sensors and the ABS sensors. Don't worry, you can do it.

Check brake linings

Here's a good one- my brake light went off after I changed tear rotors pads and new sensor. Then I noticed its back on again.
Very frustrating! Any thoughts? Connection was good and I heard the click at the junction box. Thx guys..

Quick test. Just open up the wheel well connector box, disconnect and jump the wire from the harness.
Light stay off? If yes the issue is the connector/sensor to the caliper.
Light comes back on? The issue is further up stream (closer to the computer)

I would recommend double checking the harness where it was pulled apart. As that is usually where the stress was on the wires. Could be pulled apart within the loom.

This circuit is only an open or closed loop. A broken wire/disconnected/shorted will produce a fault code (Light on)

Check Brake Linings

Stephen thanks for your quick response buddy. You know a ton more than I do. I'm proud of myself for figuring out how to do the brake job in the 1st place.
How do I jump the wires. I have an ohm meter too. (Don't know how to use it very well) I'll try whatever you tell me. I don't think it's the front pads since they seem to have life in them still.

The sensor connector has only two connections. One for in and one for return. All you need is a small wire jumper to connect the harness end connector together.

I will send a pic in a few mins
