Did anyone swap the wet cell battery to AGM?

And if yes, any issues? How does it hold up?
I'm asking the question, because in the newer BMW's one has to change the programming from a wet cell to AGM and the battery capacity, and also to register the battery. Basically, in the newer cars, when swapping out a battery one part of the equation is to change the charging parameters of the alternator from wet cell to AGM, and also the charging cycle from a an old battery to a new one.

So if one would swap the regular wet cell battery with an AGM, on our cars, how does the AGM battery hold up? Bites the dust sooner, or holds up OK?

Where I live (Canada), doing internet search, it seems that an AGM is more suited for hot to cold temperature changes (winter-summer). I'm due for a new battery, and I'm on the fence, but not sure how reliable an AGM would be in our cars. Also as a note, the newer cars have the start/stop button which is very close how the v8 starts, and BMW also acknowledged the fact that an AGM battery is better suited for these kind of vehicle starts.

Curious to hear some feedback, if any.

I replaced the battery with an AGM battery after I bought my iS back in June 2013. Engine starts every time.

Did you ever put the charger on it after some time to see how fast/slow it charges? did you checked the OBC test #9 before starting the car to see what the voltage is? Really curious. If the voltage before starting is low, then maybe the alt is not matching up 100%, but I don't know. If the voltage is OK (12.5 or higher), than the alt is doing the job. If you could please verify, that would be awesome.
Thanks TMV!!!!!!!

R&R'd my batt in April of this year: AutoZone Duralast Platinum AGM battery.
It is our X's 3rd batt including the OE.

Seems to run fine, starts fine, though I do run my Battery Tender on it when it gets to 'sitting in the garage' position in our 3 car/3 m'cycle rotation.

No idea as to 'stats' and sort of don't care. I bought it, brought it home, slow charged it for a couple days, (store batts are notorious for being way down on the shelf), and it works well.

If it was 4 or 5 yrs later in its life, my comments would be more helpful in terms of its longevity, but I don't expect any problems with the AGM.

My Vette has an AGM, all 3 scoots have AGM batts, (all of those AGM batteries are several years old, each), and never a problem, though they all get the BattTender massage with regularity.

I also have AGM batteries in two of the BMWs, No issues what so ever, but as mentioned before, I am only into their 2nd or 3rd year of life...

I've had AGM's on mine....and a couple others.
Occasionally, I will connect my AGM charger on it and let it absorb/float overnight as the agm's I use....it's stated they liked to be charged at 14.7..

Same here. I put in a Sears DieHard AGM in January on my 2004 X5 4.4i. No issues.
