Soft deer hit have questions

Update so the new adjuster was amazing they found some surplus oem headlights for me and took care of everything. Also they wrote the check out to me personally, I'm going to fix it not just cash it bit still nice.

So I had a soft hit with a deer thay was still able to get up and run off. Called my agent all is well seems to have tweaked the bumper and broke the headlight mount tabs as well as grill. Took to the shop they want to replace only parts under the bumper not the cover itself also the only want to use junkyard headlights. My lights while only halogen had crystal clear clean lenses and most x5s I see around are all cloudy. Is it being unreasonable to ask for new lights and the bumper cover?

You can tell them to do what you want. The issue will be whether or not your policy pays for new parts. If the policy does not cover new parts you could pay the difference directly to the body shop.

It is reasonable to expect your car back from the shop in the condition it was PRIOR to the accident. NEVER Except less otherwise you will receive a worn out grill, foggy headlamps, and sheet metal with dirt under the paint, all in another color because that is what the scrap yard had in stock.

That's what I thought I know I can demand new oem parts from working on my mom's e class I just have to call the adjuster a bunch and complain. I'm just wondering how to get them to include the bumper cover it's the adjuster that thinks I don't need one at all when mine has paint issues from the impact it's not cracked that's visible but I'm sure if taken off its no longer like new and has stress cracks and stretch

Get another quote from a better shop. If they also say the cover is reusable, it probably is.

Since the adjuster is the problem, take your X to the shop and see what they think. Quite often the shop will negotiate with the adjuster if they don't think the adjuster is being reasonable. The estimate of the adjustor doesn't have to final.

+1 on another body shop, and their relationship with the adjuster...

But, many/most CI policies exclude oe parts in coverage, esp on a not brand new car.
Varies by states, and companies within states, and one's policy, but to demand new/oe parts if one's policy does not provide for it, is howling at the moon.

Not saying the OP should get cataract like headlight covers, etc, but mfg'er new replacement parts/oe are seldom part of the ins coverage equation.

Except I made sure my coverage allows for oem parts the issue is I live in the country and they want me to go to a cut rate shop. The shop is great my agent is great I just get stuck with adjusters that must get bonuses based off not paying out. As for the bumper cover it has stress cracks in the paint that will drive me nuts

Sorry to have so many questions about something that seems so simple but I've never really delt with many insurance issues

Since your insurance allows OEM parts then you have full right to insist on them. Even in the country there is UPS and Fedex to get them there. You are correct, adjusters do better if the pay out is less than it could have been. You may also have the right to choose what shop you want to fix it. Find out who the nearest BMW dealer uses and see if they will let you take it there.
