Reinforcement plate access panel cover part number?

Does anyone know what is the part number for the reinforcement plate access panel cover (see attached picture)? The part for the oil drain cover appeared to be #2, but what about the other cover as indicated by the red arrow of my picture? Appreciate any leads. Thanks.

They are the same part number.

Most vehicles only have one fitted, as the other is effectively not required. It's purpose appears to be to prevent debris from getting to the drain plug area. Depending on which engine you have, the cover will be in one of the two locations.

My 3.0i have a cover in both locations. From the diagram, they don't appeared to be the same?

Fair enough. I'm only going by the advice I have been given previously, and what I've discovered through my own research. I've never seen a parts diagram or listing that specifies more than one of those covers.

There are two covers on the V8's - not sure about the 6 cylinder variants. My car has neither (that was the way it came) and I think most workshops that regularly work on vehicles with these, tend to 'discard' them...

Can these cover plates be purchased?
I have 4.4 V8 and would like to have it on there.

The cost is high but yes they are available.

Option Junk Yard, just buy the "torque to Yield" bolts and nuts that came OE and you will be fine. They hold the plate and sway bar bracket mounts.

I thought it was just a catch pan for all the leaks that develops in the front differential, engine oil pan and transmission. Why else would they put a mat with a lot of grooves in it but to prevent the slop from leaking out of the pan.

After all a BMW owner wouldn't want oil all over the garage floor of his mansion.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, I am interested in buying
the plastic "hatch" cover plate.
It looks like a cover to keep out debris.
Not needing the whole aluminum skid plate.

Double check but I think you are going to see that monster plate hanging there under the tranfer case. It is BIG and steel. The early models got a nice looking aluminium plate that can be polished up nicely. The 4.8is get big black piece of steel that weighs a TON. There is no trap door on ours just a big opening to drop the filter as ours is located on the back of the block and hangs upside down.
