I have them on my 05 X5 and they do reduce the temps and provide privacy in the rear. Adults think they have to unhook them and let then slap into closed position. I have no kids but it HAS TO BE WORSE with little fingers playing with them. The life span with that type of HARSH usage will be SHORT.
If you can not control your back seat users, the install happiness will be short.  I personally love them from a owner perspective.
