It is likely your phonebook wasn't downloaded to the car during pairing process. Can you unpair and retry pairing your phone? My 2006 has no problem with iPhone 5 and 5S

Sorry for the hijack, but while on the subject of the on-board phone system, I cannot for the life of me get mine to recognise a command. When activating the phone system to re-call a number and dial it, by depressing and holding the talking head icon until it beeps, I then say "dial home" (home being one of the stored numbers in my phonebook that is in the system). No matter what I try, or how I change this command ("call home", "dial home",) the bitch talking back to me just doesn't get it. I want to slap her! She says something like "please say the number" and I must then recite the number, and she responds by repeating what I've just said etc. etc......
What am I doing wrong?

The voice command system built into these cars makes you want to slit your own wrist.
 I just use Siri instead. Long press the center button on the iPhone, or when plugged in the car/charging, use "Hey Siri" instead.

Forgot all about Siri - thanks for the reminder. I don't live in a mobile (cell) phone reception area, so it's easy to forget these things until of course you need the feature.... I'll tell Elizabeth (that English bitch that can't understand a thing I say on the E53 voice command) to go and get fu**ed in future and just use Siri - at least she understands my accent!

Have you checked this setting in Bluetooth on your phone, accessed by tapping the (i) next to the car name?
