no friggin way. wow, that was like a scooby doo ending where we should have thought of that but was focused on the filler cap.
when / if you change the dipstick tube get a new o-ring for it.

Is the hood pad saturated? If so I'd also make them replace that and detail engine bay to get off as much of that oil as possible. If they own up to their mistake.
But thats just me! |

Hi, I am not a big BMW professional - just learning, but somewhere i saw the article that rubber O rings at the top end of the Oil dip are very important and could contribute to vacuum leaks and related issues. Following that, it is my understanding that Dipstick tube must be sealed, if yours is broken - that could be a much bigger problem then just inconvenience while checking oil level.
