I'm really embarrassed to ask this......

Be nice, I'm very new to the X5 family.
Some of the other X5 pictures have different looking
rear bumpers.
They look like they have been painted the body color on the lower
portion of
back bumper. Mine is just black, is it a cover or an option to
get the rear lower bumper in body color?

Reason I ask is because I am ordering the very slick front
bumper "skid plate" It looks awesome and I want one.
I intend to have a paint shop paint it
and wanted to do the mod on the back bumper also.

In case my signature isn't there:

Silver 2004 BMW X5 4.4i V8 engine.

I color matched mine. I removed the bumper, tapped off that section and painted it with a spray can that had BMW titan silvers color code.

Thanks guys. I went with Automotive Touch Up Paint from PaintScratch - Order Pro Grade Paint - PaintScratch.com

I think I got two cans of silver and one can of clear. It held up well over winter. Some did flake off from when I removed the tape (I even waited over 48hours). I think I was a little heavy on the clear. Aside from that it has held up much better than I expected considering I have been traveling on a lot of dirt roads and a snow/sand mix during the winter.

It is my understanding that masking tape should be removed almost imediatelly, once paint skinned up.. Parhaps you should've waited 48 hrs for full cure before exposing paint to outside elements but masking tape should come off allmost right away.
