What is the resting voltage of your X5

I know there may be slight variances if something aftermarket is installed, etc

Let's just consider a stock X5
After a ~full battery charge~, we're talking standard 3 step charge, bulk, absorb and left to sit overnight.

I've been playing around with the X after having replaced a bad negative cable......and a new replacement battery due to it. Mind reads at 12.7, sometimes a hair around 12.67V after a full charge and rested overnight.

Curious what your readings are. My AGM's *with nothing attached* do read around 12.83/12.84 after rested on a full charge

The resting voltage highly depends on the battery you have. All of my previous lead-acid H7 batteries will sit between 12.3x to 12.5x. My current Bosch AGM H8 battery will sit at 12.7x most of the time, even after a week or so without driving. I wouldn't worry about the 12.52V reading as I've seen mine dropped below 12.2V in my past batteries and the car still started fine.

I've been watching the battery like a hawk since replacing the negative....
Granted, the AGM generally sits at 12.7-or 12.67 on average which I've metered it, I did a rough test on putting the charger on it, and 24 hrs later, at the rested stated I find it was reading at 12.52. Charger on it again, well see how it looks tomorrow..

Just an FYI...the Autozone H7 AGM battery on my M coupe sits at around 12.5x volt 24hr after charging, but rest at about 12.4x volts after a week without driving. So, your 12.52V isn't out of the ordinary. I would look at the discharge trend over the next several days, to see if it further loses charge. It would concerns me more if it drops to the low 12V (12.1x or so) after several days.

BTW, what battery (brand and size) do you have?

Oddyssey. Unconnected, it rests at 12.84
Hell. Even my big honking Jump Pack *it's got 2 SLA's in it*, rest around 12.82-3 ---- just put my meter on it yesterday as well, and last time it was charged was about 4 months ago.

Yes, it's all about the trending. I've been just watching it more often to see what it looks like. It's been resting at 12.7-12.67'ish. Just kinda odd that I did a full absorption, left it alone....and it's reading as such.

Which Oddyssey model? Unconnected voltage don't mean much as all batteries should have very little internal leakage. Reserve Charge Capacity matters most when left connected to the car.

DKL -

FWIW. Here's why I'm watching it like to see how it trends...

It was at the body shop prior, must have drained for how long I don't know.
I know it drained as the presets were missing when I picked her up
Battery was never really the same afterwards and I did not want to F with the car knowing the battery was working but it was not up to par, and bearing it's the wifey's kiddie mobile. Replace it with a new battery

Later on same month, started to have negative battery issues - to the point, car shut down on me while driving. I still had the car as I was busy testing/confirming vehicles kinks were all sorted out. Bad cell/short/sulphated -- whatever the case would be --- but the new battery I put in was shot. After diag, it was the negative cable.

So new battery in again. And I've been watching it to make sure I don't end up paying for another $$$ battery
