Update, I changed the transmission fluid and filter, surprisingly it was very dirty in spite of changing it about 3k miles ago. however, there were what I would consider normal shavings, no pieces of metal. After cycling the transmission a few times, the fluid got dirty again. The noise is not as loud as before. If I step on the gas pedal, at about 4-5k rpm, I'll hear the light whining. whilst in there I also disconnect each solenoid and pressure switch and checked them, they were all good. I am planning to change the fluid again, not sure where this will lead to.

Did the fluid that came out smell burnt? That would be much different than the smell of new fluid.

When you drain the fluid from the transmission pan the fluid does not drain from the torque convertor. That means a single fluid change replaces about 70% of the total fluid. When you cycle the transmission the fluid circulates and mixes with the fluid that was retained in the convertor. That's why it got dirty again. Some drain it only once some twice, fewer have the system flushed.

It could be torque convertor whine. Have you noticed if there is any slipping in take off or it takes more gas pedal to get going?

Thanks for your input. The mixing of the fluid is what I noticed, which is what prompted me to change it again. The x drives like normal, no hesitation on acceleration, (actually it's pretty quick cause I have the performance coils on there), nor any issues when coming to a stop (taking into consideration I have brembo brakes and cross drilled rotors). The only thing is that whining when accelerating and also the service engine light stays on even though I try to reset it. The code is P0741, which is "torque converter clutch solenoid circuit performance or stuck off."
