My driver door carrier broke about 2 months ago at about 93K miles. After changing the driver side, I preemptively changed the passenger side for good measure.
No sense being on a trip away from home and have this annoyance rear its ugly head. Here are the clearances I was able to achieve with my eBay parts: Just a wee bit wider clearance than the rear handles that were installed at the factory, but good enough for my eyes. ![]() Enjoy. Mike

X5 Door Handle Carrier Removal and Replacement DIY
Just a quick question.
Do I need to replace the whole carrier assembly as on my car the carrier is new but I've broken the metal tab that the exterior handle bolts to. The part that engages the internal opening mechanism. Would there be a diy way to repair this part? Or does the whole mechanism need replacing? The handle came off with the metal tab attached to it. Last edited by Shel; 12-16-2016 at 08:25 AM. |
