How to default NAV screen to stay off on startup

Hi all, Just curious if there is anyway to shut off your navigation screen without always having to go to the menu and click "monitor off" on start up. Thanks in advance BTW: Its a 2006 4.4i

I think.....No.....You can't code it either even with Navcoder.

At night, I know.....it's just too annoying!

Old Nav version Mark 1-2 & 3...used to automatically switch daytime and nightime....unfortunately not with Mk4.

My 06 has a nighttime mode...as well a BRIGHTNESS adjustment under SETTINGS...which allows you to adjust the screen's brightness using the control knob.

You need the most recent software.

It doesn't switch automatically. At least mine doesn't

I think it depends on the software level you're running...some may only have the brightness adjustment...and some may have the day/night.

If you have the day night selection...you still get 2 color choices...but it automatically switches modes depending on the amount of ambient light being picked ip by the light sensor on the nav screen.

Go into SETTINGS and see which choice you have. If it says BRIGHTNESS...then adjust it downward so it's not so annoying. If it says DAY/NIGHT...then play around with the color choices (1 or 2), then see if you find the night setting less annoying when the background is dark (or black).
