Drivers interior door handle issue
So I went to open the door to exit the car today and there was a clack and then the handle had no resistance and the door would not open. I thought the bowden cable had become detached but on removing the door card I find that is still attached and will open the door by pulling on it directly. It seems however that there should be some kind of return spring somewhere in the system to maintain tension on the handle. Anyone have any further insights into the mechanism of this system? Is there such a tensioning device in the actuator itself which may have gone south? Cheers M |

This link will provide a visual of the carrier so you can better understand.

pop the panel off and take a look to see what broke. it could be the carrier as StephenVA suggested. it can also be the plastic interior door handle where the cable attaches to. ive had an issue with both.

Drivers interior door handle issue.
Hi guys
thanks for your responses. Note that I said interior door handle and that I had already removed the door card and checked out the interior handle to which the bowden cable attaches. Have not found time to look at the actuator yet but expect to find the outer cable on the bowden cable damaged where it attaches to the actuator. Cheers |
