Questions on eBay wheels
I did some searching before this first post, so hopefully this isn't a duplicate. will the following wheels fit?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TSW-TANAKA-2...9UGcsY&vxp=mtr Would spacers be required? Hub Centric rings? If they do work, I'm guessing 315/35/20 tires on the rear, but what about the front? |

This is the information that we need to determine how they will fit and what you would need to do to make them fit an e53:
Wheel Specifications Model - TSW TanakaThe e53 X5 has a 72.56mm wheel hub...so that means these wheels have a larger 74.1mm wheel hub so that they can be mounted on the e70 X5. The wheel offset range is basically the same for the e53 & e70...so that is not an issue unless you want to push the wheels further out toward the hubs than what the normal 20" wheels do. for that you'd need wheel spacers. As far as 20" tire sizes for staggered 20" wheels...look at the tire inflation sticker on your driver's door or the owners manual...BMW gives the recommended tire sizes for 20". You give no model/model year info...so if you have the 4.6is...the wheel info is the same as that for the 4.8is: ![]() ![]() You can compare the wheel compatibility in the chart below: ![]()

Offset is fine. You need hub-rings to bring the bored down to 72.56mm. Metal one preferred.
You can have 265/275 tires on 9" wheel, no problem.

Ok thanks for the info! I have a 2005 4.4.....first BMW I've owned.
For reference, what is the safe offset min/max for the rear 10.5" wide? I didn't see that on the chart for the e53. Thanks again! |

It's going to depend on the tire size and brand you intend to run... but generally 30 - 48mm like it says in that chart. Nice chart BTW QS... I've DL'd it for future reference. Much easier than crossreferencing wheels on bmwstylewheels.com.

Will the following fit on a 2005 4.4:
Front: 20x10 +40, 275/40/20 Rear: 20x10 +40, 315/35/20 I think the answer is yes, but I don't want to stat ordering wheels, tires, and hubs w/o checking w/ the forum. Thanks agian! |

^Yes.
However, the rear will look "sunk-in"

Would spacers help? I've never used those before so not sure what kind.

Yes spacers will help. They are basically a giant washer. They push the wheels out further from the car.

I hate spacers... buy wheels that fit your car over running spacers IMO.
Personal preference I guess... I just hate not having my wheel's hub directly attached to the axle hub. I've heard of vibration issues, alignment, etc when using spacers. Edit: I haven't ever had problems with hub centering rings though. At least the metal ones. The plastic ones no so much.
