We had almost the same scenario. We replaced the alternator, all good. A friend got me a water cooled bosch for $160. We tried all the sensors and relays. This fixed it for us 2003 4.6is. Nothing else made a difference. Last edited by Plattus1000; 11-05-2015 at 03:13 AM. |

Ok is your steering angle sensor calibrated to be 0 degrees when the wheels are straight ahead? Can you show that screen on inpa (synthetic angle vs. steering angle read)? and or expected angle vs read. It sounds like your steering sensor needs to be calibrated to 0 degrees angle. Yellow vs red = miscalc vs broke.

This is a E46 guide but close. I'm talking the "read status online general" screen. top left vs bottom left.

FWIW: I just went through a similar problem, except that all three lights were yellow.
However, sometimes when I would connect the BMW Scanner, and read the errors, the Brake light would go to red for a few seconds and then go back to yellow. I also had an EML light. Anyhow, long story short: All these issues were fixed with the following: 1. OEM MAF (I tried an off-brand one and it was making the car do crazy stuff) --- I imagine this is not related to your issue 2. All new gaskets in the intake -- I would imagine this is not related to your issue 3. New decent quality ABS sensors all around. 4. Resetting the wheel angle/level sensor. I reset it using BMW Scanner and also disconnected the car battery for a few minutes. After the battery was connected I did the following juju: open the sunroof by pressing upwards on the sunroof button, turn on the car, turn the wheel all the way to the right and then all the way to the left. I have been driving it for about 150 miles so far and (cross my fingers, knock on wood) the lights have not come back. Good luck! |

SOLVED (At least for the time being)
I hate leaving post open ended, so here is how I fixed it: I ordered a used ABS module (with the same part# ending in 004) and put it in. I cleared all the codes except for a steering angle code that would not go away. Re-calibrated steering angle and matched the VIN with Tool32 Software, went back into to INPA and cleared the last error code and the lights are off. I driven multiple times now and they have not come back so my fingers are crossed. Thanks everyone for the help. |

So it was the ABS module all along. Thanks for coming back and posting a fix. If you can go back to your first post and edit the title to include the word "FIXED" that will help other owners in the future if they have a similar problem.
