e53 hard downshift is killin me

dear all
first of all let me say hi to all of you members
i have can replicate my problem whenever i want since ive rounded it up:
the car downshift extremely hard (i always think ill leave my tranny on the road behind me whenever the car downshifts ON LOW RPMs, when i ask for some extra power) .
it does not do that when i drive on sport mode or when i keep RPMs high
tranny security mode is always on when the bang occcurs.
any toughts anyone?

i ve had a garagist update the gearbox software

could it be a bad version?
could it be a transferbox failure? FYI the gearbox is new
tkx in advance

how old is your X? How many miles? Your tranny might be heading south, have it checked by a dealer or an indy shop.

Hi, your problem is the program and need a specail tool to reprogram such as the GT1. dealer can do it or special caragist but don't worry your gearbox is fine and will not be effected by this error.

Reprogramming didn't help mine unfortunately. I still have that dreaded 5 mph rolling stop downshift bang. I can live with it for normal driving, but when it happes with the 5,000 LB trailer in tow, the entire car jumps the bang is so severe. Thank heavens for 6/100 warranty, because there's no way this trans is going to survive. Dealer has had it three times and just keeps returning it to me saying "they all do that">

I just had my transmission software update with BMW b4 my warranty ran out. It drives even better than b4. More responsive accelrtn, and smoother downshifting down hills and to lights. I just hope its not temporary.

Just got a phone call and they said they are going to replace tranny at just 35,000km. This sucks. My explorer and impala both at 400,000km both have orignial tranny and never had problems.

Any Idea how much the charge is if you're out of warranty?

I also have that harsh downshift and the dealer said the software update has already been done. But I think he is lieng. Trying to get it fixed or might have to live with it.
