CEL after resonator delete?

So i picked up my X about 2 weeks ago. Still pretty happy with it.
and I know I need some of the v8 noise

so I went to do a resonator delete (replace with straight pipe) yesterday!
Sounds awesome!!!

But today, when I went out for a drive, CEL came on, car runs completely fine, could the resonator delete had anything to do with the CEL?

AFAIK, I don't think our cars will have sensors post cat right?

Also, I can't get my INPA to work, even connecting pin 7 and 8, so I can't read the code. Anyone has a solution to that? (It works on my e92, so I know cable is fine, INPA is fine)

Thanks in advance!

Car is 02 4.4 m62 btw

It has post cat 02s. They are before the section of piping you replaced right after cats.

You should really get an X pipe though. I did a true straightpipe setup all the way back before and it had much less lowend.

No reason to throw a CEL. Your CEL is more than likely related to some other malfunctioning component or system rather than the removal of a exhaust resonator. Scan it and see what you got.

I hadn't feel any lowend tq loss yet, may be because my whole country is covered with 5 inches of snow right now and I can't tell the difference.

Saying that it has post cat o2, is it close enough to the resonator that it might be damaged during the welding? (sparks and what not)

I wouldn't suspect no resonator but muffler in place will cause exhaust gas to back flow and trigger o2 sensors right?

I would love to get code read, but like I said in the second part of my first post, I couldn't get my INPA to work for some reason.

I "should" have set all the right settings,
connected pin 7 and 8 (temporary, since I still use the same cable on my e92),

but my INPA still refuse to communicate to all other modules except for ECU
I get something like this pic

check your fuses and ask your guy if they cut and welded in the pipes without disconnecting battery, might have fried your modules

you should have done x-pipe, I went with it and it sounds wicked

the guy who did the welding used some sort of battery discharge thingy, i dont know what those are called. but i believe it works, at least he did a good job on all my friends car and mine.

OBDFusion for your smart phone and the proper interface for your platform is all you need.

If you have a smart phone or table, get an OBDII App and interface so you can read the codes along with Live/Realtime or Freeze Frame data then you will know exactly what is going on with the engine fuel management system.

OBDFusion for Android is is $3.99.

Android Bluetooth adapter - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WPW6BAE/...BWNPO9BZ&psc=1

OBDFusion, for the iProducts it is $9.99.

For iProducts you NEED a Wifi adapter or a very specialized LE Bluetooth adapter.

iProducts WiFi adapter - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WPW6BAE/...BWNPO9BZ&psc=1

Or for iOS and Bluetooth see special note below.

This info is new/hot off the press, OBDFusion WILL be supporting Bluetooth on iOS.

BUT, PLEASE NOTE. For iOS to support BT it apparently has to be some Low Energy version of Bluetooth. There are only a few of the Low Energy BT interfaces on the market at the moment, or at least that OBDFusion developers have fully tested.

The LELink Bluetooth LE adapter.

Amazon.com: LELink Bluetooth Low Energy BLE OBD-II OBD2 Car Diagnostic Tool For iPhone/iPod/iPad: Automotive

The Carista Bluetooth LE adapter.

Interesting, I have one of those berried somewhere in the basement. I will try to find it and give it a shot.

If you used OBDFusion or some of the other Apps that support Logging, you will be VERY surprised what you can do with these tools.

INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4.0 have some merits, but for driveability, if I only had one tool to chose from, OBDFusion would the one I would want.
