Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
I don't believe the 3.0d was approved ever for sale into the US. So chances are, it was either smuggled in, was a BMW corporate demo car, or it wasn't a 3.0d.

Knowing how a lot of BMW owners love to tinker with their cars it could have been a retrofit

I had to look twice; I saw 3.0d on the fender that's mainly why I noticed it.

If a US soldier was stationed in Germany for a while and bought one there perhaps they could have it shipped here when they returned?

That could explain it. There are still a few ways to get gray market cars in, but the rules tightened dramatically under Obama.

Here's a pic of our X5 duo, as requested

Bob the E70 gets to live inside, but Eeyore sleeps out in the cold. Here, they eye each other in an artsy morning shot.

We pay about €1 right now. It hasn't been this low in 4 years. It was €1.20 just a year ago.

That's only a third. We normally stock 24 cords and burn about 8 per winter, heating the house and hot water. I suppose that in OK you have much milder winters! We're planning to move back to the US and live in the south too. Recent events in yurrup are worrisome. Gotta think of our 4 kids' future.

^^Glad to hear you are coming to the US soon - I had a French roommate back in college in 2005 from Nice, he told me back THEN that there was a HUGE problem with immigration and non-assimilation in the EU and especially in France and the potential threats that come with it, I can only imagine what its like nowadays.

If you move here, be sure to move to the south, Texas preferably, lots of freedoms afforded here. Stay out of Maryland, NJ, New York, Massachusetts, California, Rhode Island or Connecticut.

Texas is number 1 on our list. Imagine that! As for CA, btdt, never going back except to visit.
