Ok at auction it's an $8,000 vehicle. None have gone thru at that high of mileage so it might be slightly less but I figure yours is in better shape then most at auction so about a wash. If you want to confirm just take it to your local car max and have them do an appraisal

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
If you want my honest opinion and you are decided on a Q7 - find a 2011 or newer TDI with the 3rd row seat and Prestige or Premium Plus/ S-line package - You can do a Stage 2 Malone tune on the TDI and still get 30mpg highway but have 280 hp and 430 ft lbs - I think Stage 1 tune is 260hp and 420 ft lbs - Either way the 3.0 diesel is a great engine

You probably can get a good deal on them now too because of the whole dieselgate debacle

Number of owners and maintenance records means nothing on a trade-in value, or at least too little to consider. I agree with others to trying to sell it on our own.
If I were in your situation, I would have my wife drive a minivan if we need the space. In fact, we do have a Honda Odyssey for our long family road trip.
The Audi looks nice, but that's about it for me.
GL with your decision.

I was really disappointed in the q7 "extra space". It's not as usable as I wanted. I'd go GL over q7. The audi diesel is more enjoyable to drive over the ML diesel. The q7 supercharged will be more fun to drive than the 550, but I'd still go benz.

Not to mention the audi is long overdue for a facelift

I agree that selling it yourself is the only way to get near what it should be worth and NADA pricing will give you a range. I would also check cars.com for comparable pricing nationwide and especially in your region. You will need to find someone that understands what you have and values any improvements you have made. Good luck!

I've been softly looking for another X5 4.8is as ours is getting a little long in the tooth. We had a 2013 X5 5.0 (turbos) and currently have a 2008 4.8i Sport. I would still prefer the e53 4.8is if and would jump at one if it came up.

I'll share my thoughts on what we want and might pay so you have another data point. This isn't an ad or solicitation for a vehicle and I don't intent to hijack the thread.

I've been on all the usual sites as well as the various forums classifieds looking for a few weeks, off and on. Our requirement is black/black under 100k miles 4.8is with sport seats and heated steering wheel, everything working. So not the OPs vehicle (although it is attractive!). We would probably pay up to about $25k for the right vehicle and expect to give at least $15k for a good one but maybe with higher miles or some minor condition flaws that we could correct. It is a sellers' market. There aren't a lot available that are really attractive (condition-wise), and those of us who know what these are and like them will pay up versus the e70 or other "competitors". Sure I'd like to find one under $10k, but I would pay up for the right one. If you wanted a quick sale, you could discount it and just sell it to anyone interested. But I think patience waiting for a real 4.8is buyer will lead to a higher price for you.

Again, just my point of view.

Good input so far; enough to confuse me haha..

After more thinking, we've decided to sell our X5 and make up our mind on the following:

Audi Q7 s-line prestige 3.0 supercharged or 3.0 TDI
Mercedes GL 550 or diesel version
BMW X5 5.0 or 3.5diesel

Problem is , besides the x5, all the others are ugly in the diesel version (small wheels, chrome trim, blah interior options)- unless you spring for the newest version.
The x5 diesel still has the package that comes on some 5.0's.

As you can see, the x5 is still not out of question; I'm reading there's more room in the back than in the E53.ill have to call my inlaws to find out.

All these cars at 50k miles or under, are priced approximately the same (around 35k).

I'm leaning towards the x5 diesel if there's indeed more room than in the e53.

So hard to make up my mind when money don't grow on trees.

I just picked up a 2006 X5 3.0 for my wife as a daily driver. I was hoping for a 2007-2008 but found this one. It's a 1 Owner car, woman owned with 189,000 miles on and all highway miles. Seems to drive good, with no major issues. I did just replace radiator, expansion tank and hoses as a precaution.
I am wondering why the comment of preferring the e53?
I drive 2005 545 (currently with 186,000 miles) and figured the e70 would be more like that as I like the iDrive features functions.
Just curious of your experience with either models.
Thanks
