That didn't take long. Enable me :-)

So enthused was I to see and read about BimmerE38E53's angel eye upgrade that I ordered a set this week. Of course, I have also understood that this is a great time to do some other things while I am there, so this is where the community comes in.

I also read some input about EvoRx lenses and I am looking to learn more about the choices. I read about EvoRx being great at high beams and another being a wider low beam pattern. I drive in the city most often, so wider may be better. But I am willing to hear and decide based on the input I get here.

So, What say you boys? While I have opened up headlights, what do you recommend and what are the plus and minus of the choices before me?

I don't get the lens update. Mine in the city with 4 lanes shines across all lanes and at times I think they are too bright?? Do the lens' just get worse over time?

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
Prop, the easiest projector swap would be the EvoXR - it bolts right in - Doing just a clear lens swap will only give you a bit more sharpness and color flicker at the cutoff - The EvoXR has a similar output to your factory E55 bi-xenon projectors just more intense because of the chromed bowl and clear lens, you would be happy with them for $150.

I know you wanted to try the Euro corners look for a long time, I saw a thread where a guy had his amber turn signal portion wrapped in brushed aluminum vinyl, it actually looked 95% of the look of the Euro facelift lights when done.

Besides those two and the angel eye upgrade, the only limits are your imagination when retrofitting.

I agree. You are the limiting factor. Once they're open you can do anything to them. It's been just under a week since my LED angel eye upgrade and my o my!!!!! Definitely worth the time even if just doing that in my opinion!

Everyone who has done an EvoXR upgrade on facelift lights and shared their opinion has stated it was a marked improvement.

There are pics with before and afters here and on hidplanet so you can judge for yourself.

X5snd has said (IIRC) you will need to do some mods to the wiring as the separate igniter is not compatible with the EvoXR bulb socket area.

Other things that can be done would be to check for crumbling wire insulation of the headlight harness, and headlight lens restoration if needed?

Not a fan of the blank space when removing the orange reflector, I am thinking it may be possible to cover it with silver reflective tape?

Oh, and stealth bulbs for the corner lamps! Subtle but noticeable. Cleans up that area a bit.

Question

Hello, anyone know how to turn off the ugly yellow drl? When driving in day I would rather the yellow not be on...
Especially if I end up doing the angel eyes. I will not want the yellow running with them.

^you can remove the bulbs. You dont need flash to pass anyway.

You're welcome.

Ok, actually...

You have to code those off. Dealer can do it, or DIY just get a cable and those bundled INPA/NCS programs and there are threads here on how.

I just ordered a cable off Amazon to try it out. I hope I dont brick the truck lol!
