X5 cranks but won't turn over-Help!

So my 2006 X5 3.0 wouldn't start on Monday. It would crank but would not turnover. I tried to jump it yesterday with no luck. I took out the battery and took it to Autozone. They verified that the battery was bad so I bought a new one and popped it in hoping I was done with this problem. Got in to start it and it's still cranking but will not turn all the way over. It almost does but then just won't turn over. Any ideas on what this could be? Is it the starter? You description/terminology of the problem is very confusing. If it cranks that to me means the engine is turning over. If it doesn't start that a different story. If the engine is turning over that mean you starter is good. If the engine doesn't starts there could be many reasons why it doesn't start.

You could have a bad fuel pump so no gas is being pumped to the injectors. Or you could have no sparks at the spark plugs which could mean a bad CPS. If it tried to start but didn't start and you continue trying to start it you could have flooded the engine. To start a flooded engine, press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and crank the engine for about 1 minute. If it doesn't start wait about 2 minutes and repeat the procedure.
