Trunk Actuator Engaging by Itself

Anybody recall reading something similar

Currently, this behaves the same with either key in the car.
The trunk release will just actuate on it's own....every 30 seconds or so.

IF you lock the doors via central lock, it does not do this.

I'm trying to recall but this similar problem about 2 years or ago or such...
Replaced my ballasts and the issues went away until this week

I believe this was the thread

Did water have any access to the the trunk release housing.Let's say,it was raining and the trunk lid was up open and water got inside the stamped board.
This is what I had:

I was unloading some cement bags while it was moderately raining and after that time my trunk lid would unlock every time I would turn the parking lights/beams switch.

I removed the "handle" from the trunk lid, dried with a dryer and sealed the connection with some hot glue. It's been 5 trouble free years.

You need to check the wires that go from the body to the hatch. You will see two rubber sleeves in each upper corner. Open those up and you will see some wires that have cracked and chafed and are shorting out. Keep us posted.

Also check the relays above to the oem subwoofer in the trunk. There is one that controls the latch. Mine was loose and would pop the trunk every few seconds.

Thx All. Swapped cars on Friday and was able to duplicate it. Took the car today for a errand and no dice.

Not going to track it down until it comes back again, if it does.

It has occurred previously.

I have not the vaugest ideas how I fixed it...
