Driver Door Weather/Rain Strip Clip reinstallation

Greetings All!
When removing the weather stripping from the left front door I broke the clip that holds the stripping in place. I have removed the fragments of the old clip (I think) and need to install the new one (seen in the photo). I don't know how to do this. The clip wants to go under the black vertical trip piece but that piece does not have enough movement to allow the clip underneath. I am unable to find instructions in the Bentley manual but may have tunnel thinking or don't know what some of the parts are called ... anyhow can't find instructions there.

Any help?

Thanks in advance.
