'06 X5 E53 brake bleed

Ok, now that I've got my axles rebooted, going to install new rotors and pads.

This vehicle has DSC and I haven't found anything definitive regarding brake bleeding procedure.

I will be using a power bleeder and I've got 1L of brake fluid.

Can this be done in a straightforward fashion, or will I be running into problems with the DSC and ABS?

It seems that if air is kept out of the system, a straightforward power bleed should work fine. Correct?

I've read posts where folks introduced air into the system and it became a headache to fix.

any words of advice would be appreciated.

thx

I've always done the air assisted FOLLOWED up by 2 man old fashioned pedal. IMO, it always seems to produce better results with the pedal bleed.

Re: ABS. No issues in either method. I HAVE brought it to my Indy 2X since ownership to have him utilize the autologic to have him bleed the system engaging the ABS

Thumbs up Easy Bleed

Easy
Suck all the brake fluid out of the master before starting off, replace with fresh fluid. Bleeding sequence:
RR, LR, RF, LF
Check the master cyl reservoir between each tire. Smack the caliper with a rubber mallet to ensure all the air comes out. Afterwards Pedal bleed in the correct sequence, top off the fluid and you are good to go.

Easy 1 hr job. You may need more fluid than you have as there is a lot of old fluid in there that will need to be replaced to run clear. Don't be surprised that the right rear takes FOREVER to run clear.

I would replace the caliper bushings if they are still original. The pins can be cleaned or replaced if there is no wear marks (Clean with a green Scotch Bright pad). Note ATE build our calipers so use their parts and save yourself 60% under BMW sourced bushings.

Helpful? or Hurtful?
