how would I go about achieving this, I was thinking of removing the centre silencer, and going with the straight pipes, but I am worried it may be too loud as it would be a straight through system from cat back.

any help is greatly appreciated.
Zully, I did the upgrade on my 4.4i of putting the 4.8iS exaust pipes (from resonator) and boxes (mufflers) with the 4.8iS oval tips on and MAN OH MAN does it ever sound beautiful I'd NEVER want any other sound. I swear you'll forget about the popping and crackling desire after you hear the constant deep roar of how the 4.4i can sound like with 4.8iS mufflers (boxes). unreal how beastly the x5 sounds. a german power plant.

Cheers clockwork, how would that differ to my current setup, I have straight pipes from the resonator to the oval tips, and its is a very deep roar, if you listen to the video you will see, if it is possible could you make a video of your set up to give me an idea

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsZ4BCfMoFY is how it would sound. see how much deeper the sound is compared to your high pitched tone?

OR if you want you can put the 4.8iS exhaust on and then remove the center resonator and install an X pipe in its place to get this sound...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMwDHDLu34w

so you removed the 4.4i mufflers/boxes, STILL have the center muffler/silencer/resonator then installed straight pipes and welded on oval tips?

if you're looking for a slightly more racetrack sound, thne I'd recommend installing a sealed air intake system, like the Dinan air intake box. I just did and the sound level agian just went more beautiful but ONLY when you drive it, not when it sits and idles...

I'm referring to an engine tune performed with a program and a computer. Check out the local seen and chances are you will find some someone with an m62 tune. I just found a guy in Washington with one and he's currently working on another one for the m52tu. Some of these engine tunes will bring on more crackling and popping off throttle. If you can get together with the tuner, you could possibly have him increase that effect.

Zu11y, OR you can start with the Dinan Cold Air Intake and box, OR AFE Brand Cold Air Intake with shroud/box (much cheaper). Just make sure you buy the air filter that does NOT need to be oiled.

I believe the AFE Stage 1/2 have the shroud, but not metal cover, like the Dinan does, BUT when the bonnet is closed it acts as a cover as it will mate with the foam edges of the shroud to seal up and not allow warm engine bay air into the CAI.

read this thread,
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...endations.html

PS: you do NOT need to get the BMW software software modified either. You can just install the CAI and it will change the sound of your vehicle.
